The recent tax deal of the OECD might radically change the future face of tax in the GCC. BDO tax experts in the GCC along with distinguished guest speakers Mr. Ridha Hamzaoui (IBFD), and Ross Robertson ( BDO UK) will discuss key aspects of the OECD tax deal and its impact on businesses and governments in the GCC. Speaker Profiles:

Brian Conn: Chair 

Brian is a former tax partner who set up BDO’S VAT practices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He has over 30 years of tax experience in Europe and the Middle East. He retired from his full-time role in 2020 and now works with BDO UAE on a consultancy basis.

Rami Alhadhrami: Partner, BDO Kuwait

Prior to joining BDO in Kuwait, Rami worked for BDO in New Zealand. Rami leads BDO Kuwait tax practice. He specializes in corporate & international tax, FDI laws, tax structures and is an expert in AEOI such as FATCA & CRS.

Ashish Athavale: Tax Partner, BDO Oman, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates 

Ashish is a qualified lawyer and company secretary. He leads BDO’s tax practices in UAE, Bahrain and Oman. He has extensive experience in the region and was involved in the implementation of VAT in Bahrain and Oman.

Ridha Hamzaoui: Regional Tax Manager, International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD)

Ridha is the Regional Tax Manager for Africa and Middle East regions for IBFD. He is an expert on tax law and tax treaties for the United Nations Development Programme in the Middle East and North African regions. Ridha has a specialized Master’s degree in tax law from and an LLM in International Tax Law. He is a regular speaker in the Africa-Middle East region on international tax issues, and has lectured in various universities.

Ross Robertson: Partner - International Tax - BDO UK

Ross is an international tax partner of BDO UK,  specializing in commercially led cross-border corporate structuring and financing for large MNEs. He has as particular focus on the optimisation of operating models and the taxation of intangible assets. Ross is a member of BDO’s global international tax centre of excellence, and leads BDO work on the emerging OECD projects around the taxation of the digital economy.

Mohammed Madbouly: Head of VAT - BDO Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Mohammed moved to BDO Alamri after a distinguished career with the Egyptian tax authority. He specializes in indirect taxation and has advised the World Bank and the World Health Authority.

Ismael Navarro: Transfer Pricing, BDO Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Ismael is BDO’s leading transfer pricing specialist in Saudi Arabia and is part of the BDO global TP team. He trained in Mexico and has extensive international practice.
