Our Public Sector team focuses on providing external audit, internal audit and consulting services to Local Authorities, Capital Market Authorities in Saudi Arabia including other areas of central government. Our Partners have a long track record of working with public sector clients and leading industry associations
(eg HFMA, NHS Providers) and regularly provide media comment on issues affecting the public sector
(eg Local Government Chronicle, Health Service Journal). We have good relationships with complementary public sector service providers and our engagements regularly take a holistic approach to ensuring our clients’ needs are fulfilled.

External audit

Our public sector external audit team works with our clients to secure technical excellence in the financial statements they produce, ensuring they are free from material misstatement and maximise value for money for taxpayers.  We deliver a risk-focused and added value external audit, compliant with accounting standards generally accepted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as issued by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) International Standards on Auditing.

Internal audit

Our public sector internal audit practice works with clients to minimise operational risk and promote good governance in public sector organisations. This can be done on a co-sourced or fully outsourced basis. 

We pride ourselves on presenting easy-to-understand findings to Audit Committees and practical recommendations for our clients to implement. All BDO Global staff in internal audit and external audit teams are members of their relevant chartered body (eg CII, ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA) as well as having specialist qualifications (eg CISA). We keep our clients informed of changes to relevant standards and improvements to best practice through regular client updates and technical seminars.

Consulting

Given the nature of the challenges for the sector, our Public Sector Consulting team works with clients facing significant challenges to transform their organisations and the services that they deliver, achieving a step change in both operational and financial performance. 

Tax

Our tax team have assisted clients with advice in a number of areas (eg VAT planning initiatives, community infrastructure levy and use of contractors in public sector organisations) which have resulted in organisations having more funds to provide their core services.
